New Dahlonega Restaurants 2018

The local restaurant scene is getting bigger in terms of choices. Here are several new Dahlonega restaurants to try.

19 Degrees North

The Back Porch Oyster Bar has gone out of business and the restaurant  is under new ownership with a new name and focus. The new restaurant is  called 19 Degrees North and features steak, 19 degrees north restaurant exteriorseafood and comfort food.

Some of the layout has not changed from the previous owner however they have added new tables and a couple of new bars, one outside on the back porch and the other at the front entrance. They have also added fireplace tables and umbrellas on the back deck. The new restaurant can seat 140. They want to offer good food with a laid back beach theme with staff wearing Hawaiian shirts. Initial reviews from people we know have been positive and we plan to try it in the near future.

Pueblos Mexican Has Moved For Renovations

Pueblos Mexican restaurant has relocated across the street at the location once occupied by Don Pollo. They are performing extensive and much needed renovations at the original location. Visit after the remodel and you will see a new exterior face and upgraded interior. In the meantime, enjoy the same great food and staff right across the street from the original Pueblos.

Bellies and Butts

Bellies and Butts is a new barbecue place  located between the antique malls and previously occupied by Smokin Gold bellies and butts barbecue restaurant sign showing the most unique name of Dahlonega restaurantsBarbecue. The new owner is taking the old Standard Oil gas station and renovating it back to the original vintage gas station look.

The main dining room will be renovated. A sports bar with pool tables will be in another space. They have also applied for a beer and wine license which the original owner did not have.

The Yard is Coming- May be Most Unique of Dahlonega Restaurants

Many past guests remember the Corkscrew Cafe which is located near the Holly Theater. It was a favorite place for a great meal before taking in a performance at the Holly. The building use to be the Dahlonega jail.

Now the Corkscrew building is turning into The Yard and is planning a soft opening during Gold Rush Festival weekend in October. The owner is offering two themes with fine dining Sunday through Wednesday and more casual fare targeting a younger crowd Thursday through Saturday with “Asylum in the Yard” complete with live music, DJ’s and dancing.

Knuckles Sandwich Shop

The owner of the popular Gustavo’s Pizza is adding a restaurant called Knuckles Sandwich Shop at 39 Chestatee Street. They will feature deli style sandwiches with craft beer and local wines. Sandwiches will be made to order and from scratch. They claim no freezers or microwave will be on the premises. There will be eight tables inside and another eight tables on the patio. A great sandwich with a craft beer on the patio sounds good to me. Nice that this will be another of several Dahlonega restaurants offering local craft beer. Knuckles plans to open Gold Rush Festival weekend in October.
