WINTER + WINE + WEEKENDS = A Winning Combination in Dahlonega

Winter 2016 is here in Dahlonega and the north Georgia mountains. The holidays are over, the crowds of tourists have left, the area is quiet and tranquil and for the first time in years all of our local wineries will be open on the weekends beginning January 16th – all but two will be open the weekend of the 8th.

Three Sisters opens mid-January for weekends; Montaluce opens 1/14; Cavender Creek weekends; Cottage Winery and Yonah Mountain weekdays and weekends; Wolf Mountain and Frogtown are open weekends. You can check their web sites or call them for details.

Take advantage of the quiet season in our area. You can check the weather and make last-minute reservations for dining and lodging with us – no two night minimum except Valentine’s Day weekend.

Hiking in the winter months is beautiful because the mountain vistas open up with the leaves off the trees. You literally can see for miles in many areas along the Appalachian Trail. The temperatures are colder and at times the wind might be blowing so wear appropriate clothing in layers. You might even see snow.

The waterfalls in the area are also special in the winter. Some may be covered in ice depending on the temperatures. Two of our favorite waterfall hikes are Amicalola and DeSoto Falls.

Historic downtown Dahlonega’s quaint shops and restaurants are open without the crowds. Live music is typically offered on weekends.

Come stay with us and enjoy the North Georgia mountains and historic Dahlonega in the winter of 2016.
